Oliver Raw - Writer & Photographer

Caged bird photo

Oliver Raw is a British-Swedish travel writer and photographer focused on Southeast Asia.

He has lived in the region for twenty years, with stints in Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Bangkok. More recently, he has lived in—or spent extended periods in—Chiang Mai, Bali, Hoi An and Luang Prabang. And Maymyo, which he loves.

Over the course of his travels, he has spent several months in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery, trekked across South Korea, slept in some deeply unsanitary digs, and found himself in more than a few places where he definitely shouldn’t have been.

He has reported on conflict in Iraq and Ukraine and fondly recalls the six months spent along the China-North Korean border.

He is particularly drawn to issues of heritage and conservation, and will seize any excuse to take a train or boat journey.

He also works as a printmaker.

If you're interested in a collaboration, feel free to get in touch.
